Former Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha, was arrested for breaking into his confiscated estate in Owerri.

Mr. Okorocha, representing Imo West Senatorial district at the Senate, was seen being arrested by police officers in a video that surfaced on social media on Sunday.

The Royal Palm Estate located at Akachi Road, Owerri, was on Friday shut down by  Imo State government, following the recommendations of the Judicial Commission of Enquiry on the recovery of lands and other related matters in a bid to recover all illegally acquired lands and structures by past administrations.

Reports say that Mr. Okorocha broke the keys to recover the estate belonging to his wife, Nkechi.

The Imo state police command confirmed that it had Mr. Okorocha, Steve Asunobi, Mr. Lasbrey Anyanwu and Ijeoma Igboanus, arrested alongside in custody to explain.

Mr. Okorocha has been in a running battle with his successor in office, Hope Uzodinma. Both of the APC stock, Messrs Okorocha and Uzodinma have no love lost since the latter obtained the party’s gubernatorial ticket to the chagrin of Mr. Okorocha who preferred his son in law, Uche Nwosu.
