2025: Niger assembly approves N151.7 billion LG budget

The Niger House of Assembly has approved N151.7 billion budget of 25 local government areas for the 2025 fiscal year.
The legislation followed the adoption of a report by Bello Bako, chairman, House committee on local government and chieftaincy affairs, at the plenary on Thursday.
He said the estimate included N96,286,909,470.58 recurrent expenditure and N55,434,793,13 capital expenditure.
Mr Bako said the committee recommended for the councils to establish sound mechanisms to enhance revenue collection, block leakages and improve capital allocations.
The Speaker, Abdulmalik Sarkin-Daji, commended the committee for screening the councils with all diligence.
He said the House would strengthen its oversight functions to ensure proper budget implementation.
