Tinubu slips again, screams “God bless PD-APC” at Jos rally

The APC candidate has continued to make outright false and incoherent statements since he began campaigning to be president.

Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate for 2023, goofed on Monday during the flag-off of his campaign in Jos, Plateau.

Ending his speech at the rally, Mr Tinubu, to the surprise of supporters, said, “God bless Nigeria. God bless PD…,” before retracing his speech to say “APC”.

This comes as another gaffe by Mr Tinubu, who has continued to make outright false and incoherent statements, since he began campaigning to become president.

In October, Mr Tinubu had hailed Kaduna governor Nasir El-Rufai’s creativity in turning the fortunes of his state from a “rotten situation into a bad one.”

Before then, the APC presidential candidate had forgotten how to pronounce the name of his party, referring to APC members as belonging to the “Action Group” party.

“And the commitment for us as members of the Action Group,” Mr Tinubu said while addressing members of his party in a viral video seen on social media in July.

In March, Mr Tinubu said to address the country’s high unemployment rate, that 50 million youths would be recruited into the Nigerian army. Questioned on the feasibility of his idea days later, he claimed that his statement was a slip of tongue.

In April, Mr Tinubu told Nigerians that their Permanent Voter Cards are “expired,” a claim refuted by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

It has been insinuated that Mr Tinubu’s gaffes may be linked to his frail health, which remains a sticking point against his ambition to direct the affairs of Nigeria.

In February, Peoples Gazette published a video revealing Mr Tinubu soaked from behind, while his security aide covered his nose; a development that would insinuate that Mr Tinubu was battling a health condition.

Mr Tinubu, 70, however, dismissed criticisms about his frail health, saying being Nigerian president is not grave digging that requires his physical strength.
