South Korean crypto exchange platform OKCoin has announced Randi Zuckerberg, sister of Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, as head of its advisory council to help attract more women to the cryptocurrency industry.

The announcement was made on Thursday by the platform on Twitter and comes a day after Meta lifted ban on cryptocurrency advertisements on all its platforms.

“We’re partnering up w/ @randizuckerberg! She’s joining our Brand Advisory Council to welcome more women into #crypto,” OKCoin tweeted.

“It’s always been a passion of mine to inspire and support women in technology, investing, and leadership, and I’m looking forward to continuing to do so as a member of Okcoin’s brand advisory council,” said Ms Zuckerberg. “Cryptocurrency has huge potential to make massive strides in creating a more equitable system, and it’s an honor to join in the Okcoin mission to create a more inclusive future of finance.”

OKcoin has set a goal to reach 50 per cent

female customers on its platform by 2025. A fund of $1 million has been allocated to finance the initiative.

Ms Zuckerberg had previously served as a former director of market development and a spokesperson for Facebook until she resigned in 2011, moving on to start her own social media firm. She also founded the Zuckerberg Institute – a program aimed at educating business leaders, entrepreneurs and students.
