Members of the judicial panel against police brutality in Lagos have withdrawn their continued participation in the committee following revelation that the Central Bank of Nigeria blocked bank accounts of key actors of the #EndSARS agitation.

Peoples Gazette exclusively obtained and published court documents on Friday that confirmed that Governor Godwin Emefiele approached a federal judge in Abuja to freeze bank accounts linked to #EndSARS champions.

Our publication marked the first clear evidence that the CBN was responsible for bank transaction restrictions that targeted only prominent voices of the historic campaign.

On Saturday morning, #EndSARS members of the Lagos judicial panel, who had expressed outrage following the Gazette’s report, decided to boycott their participation, according to filmmaker Editi Effiong who was at the venue.

Bolatito Rachael Oduala (Rinu) and Gatefield limited were amongst those affected by the freezing order, which was procured on behalf of CBN by former attorney-general Michael Aondoakaa.

Mr. Effiong said the development forced indefinite postponement of the panel’s sitting.
