EPL: Man United beat Bournemouth; Newcastle draw Arsenal
Manchester United’s impressive form in the Premier League continued on Tuesday night following an emphatic 3-0 victory over Bournemouth at Old Trafford.
The encounter saw the return of Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Donny Van de Beek, who played less than 45 minutes of the game before he was subbed due to injury, returned to the starting lineup.
In the 23rd minute of the game, Casemiro scored his second league goal for United from a freekick assist by Christian Eriksen to give the Red Devils a 1-0 halftime lead.
Meanwhile, Luke Shaw netted a rare goal barely four minutes into the second half to double United’s lead as the hosts continued to dominate possession in the encounter.
Close to the half-hour mark, Bournemouth came close to finding the back of the net twice, but David De Gea came to the rescue; first, a header by Philip Billing and an effort by Jaidon Anthony from point-blank range.
Alejandro Garnacho almost tripled United’s goal in the game’s closing minutes, but his curler shot struck the past.
Marcus Rashford continued his goal-scoring form with an 86th-minute goal to secure victory for United.
Meanwhile, Arsenal failed to extend their lead atop the Premier League table after they were held to a goalless draw by Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium.
