Frontline Adamawa politician Madaki shelves governorship plan for Rahman Haske ahead of APC primary

A prominent politician and elder statesman in Adamawa State, Hammanjoda Madaki, has withdrawn from the 2027 governorship race in support of Abdulrahman Haske ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary scheduled for May 23, 2026.
Mr Madaki previously served as the state chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before dumping the party and joining the APC alongside his supporters in late 2025.
He had earlier declared interest in contesting the Adamawa governorship election on the APC platform.
Mr Haske formally declared his governorship ambition in April 2026 and has since intensified consultations across the state ahead of the primary election.
