FRSC seeks Nigerian Air Force collaboration to reduce crashes
The Federal Road Safety Corps command in Oyo has sought collaboration with the Nigerian Air Force to reduce road crashes before, during and after the ember months.
The FRSC sector commander, Joshua Adekanye, made the request during his visit to the 671 NAF detachment, Ibadan.
According to a statement on Wednesday by a spokesperson of the agency, Paul Okoduwa, the visit was part of FRSC’s efforts to stem the tide of road crashes in Oyo, especially during and after the ember months.
The statement said the collaboration would assist FRSC in accomplishing its 15 per cent reduction in road crash fatality.
The sector commander advocated for a close working relationship with the NAF in other areas, such as patronage of the FRSC services in producing driver’s licences and vehicle recovery through the National Vehicle Identification System (NVIS), among others.
The commander of the 671 NAF detachment, Nasir Folaji, commended the FRSC for its impact on enhancing national security in Nigeria.
Mr Folaji promised the military’s continued support to FRSC in capacity building, training, special operational collaborations, and other relevant programmes.
He noted that the support would improve the synergy between the FRSC and the air force for a safer motoring environment.
