The executive chairman of Jaba Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Larai Ishaku, has distributed no fewer than 500 bags of rice to widows, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable members of the society.

Presenting the items in Kwoi, headquarters of Jaba Local Government Area, Ms Ishaku said the gesture was borne out of love and compassion, which the season of Christmas represents.

“As we gather in celebration of Christmas, we are reminded of the core values that this embodies.

“It is a time to reflect on the virtues of love, compassion and hope, especially for those who find themselves in difficult circumstances.

“On this joyful occasion, I would like to remind everyone to embrace the feeling of togetherness that comes with celebrating humanity,” she stated.

According to her, the beneficiaries were drawn from the 10 wards of Jaba regardless of their political or religious affiliation.

The council boss reiterated her administration’s commitment to the welfare of vulnerable members of society.

“Let today serve as a reminder of our collective responsibility to continue this charitable work beyond the holiday season.

“Christmas is just a moment in the year, but our commitment to uplifting one another would be a continuous one,” she added.

Ms Ishaku enjoined the beneficiaries to give from the little they had received to other less-privileged people around them in the spirit of the season.

While thanking Governor Uba Sani for his support towards the success of the event, she called on residents to always pray for and support their leaders at all levels.

She also tasked the youths on the need to remain vigilant and avoid any act capable of breaching the peace during the yuletide season.

Some of the beneficiaries, Joy Emmanuel and Sabo Adamu, expressed gratitude to the council boss for remembering them at a time like this.

They described the gesture as the first of its kind in Jaba and urged her to continue to do more for the downtrodden.

Seasonings and cash were  also given to each of the beneficiaries.
