Kidnappers kill policeman during rescue operation of abducted Edo magistrate
Precious Aigbonoga, president of Igueben Customary Area Court of Appeal, Edo, who was abducted by gunmen has been rescued, Peoples Gazette learnt.
However, a police officer whose name is yet to be revealed was shot dead in the rescue mission.
Recall that Ms Aigbonoga was kidnapped last week at the Ugoneki axis of the Uhumwonde local council area of Edo while on her way to Igueben.
She was said to have been abducted on her way to the court.
“She (Aigbonoga) was rescued at a place called scorpion heel, inside the forest where she was held captive, after a gun battle that led to the death of the police officer,” a security source who pleaded anonymity said.
The source added that Ms Aigbonoga was also shot during the rescue operation, and was currently receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital in the state.
The Gazette gathered that the Magistrate was rescued by operatives of the Special Anti-Kidnapping Squad (SARS) of the police command in Edo state.

Chidi Nwanbuzor, the Edo police spokesperson confirmed the rescue operation and killing of the policeman.
