NNPP Cross River guber candidate, Wilfred Bonse, involved in N103 million fraud
The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) governorship candidate for Cross River, Wilfred Bonse, has been accused of benefitting at least N40 million from a cyber fraud scheme executed by a group of hackers identified as The Syndicate.
The hackers breached the security wall of a financial account and stole N103 million that was shared among several accounts including that of the NNPP governorship candidate, according to the petition seen by Peoples Gazette.
“OMNI GOLD CONCEPT (40,000,000) received via ACCESS BANK account 0781567684,” stated a petition filed at the Force Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Garki, Abuja, on September 5, 2022.
The petition claimed the scam was engineered with the intent of bankrupting the account holder, from whom over a hundred million naira was withdrawn and later disbursed to five accounts including Mr Bonses’ who got the largest share.
“We believe this is a premeditated financial fraud which was directed at bankrupting our client, and THE SYNDICATE if not stopped may continue to hack the systems of unsuspecting corporate and individual citizens.”
Other beneficiaries of the fraud are Mabho Logistics, who allegedly received N16 million via Fidelity bank account 4011299696; Dinkas Enterprise got nine million naira with Access bank account 1440842852; Danieco ventures got N20 million via UBA account number 1024613249 and Paul Comfort Joy received N18 million in her Guaranty Trust Bank account 0682409255.
Mr Bonse did not immediately return requests seeking comments on his alleged involvement in the fraud scheme.
