Ogun: Army hands over seized cannabis to NDLEA

The Nigerian Army, 35 Artillery Brigade, Alamala, Abeokuta, says it has handed over a substance suspected to be hemp weighing 223kg to the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
Mohammed Goni, spokesman for the army in Abeokuta, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.
Mr Goni said the troops of the brigade last Friday intercepted a Mazda bus marked NRK 622 SB conveying the 441 pawpaw-sized substance at Mologbede village in Odeda LGA.
He said the brigade commander, Mohammed Aminu, commended the troops for their efforts and urged them to remain vigilant in their various locations.
Mr Aminu reiterated the brigade’s continuous efforts to collaborate with other security agencies to rid the state of crimes.
Similarly, the NDLEA commander in Ogun, Jane Odili, commended the synergy between the military and other security agencies.
Ms Odili noted that the military had been supportive of the NDLEA operations, which led to significant success for the agency.
She, however, said this was not the first time such a large quantity of hemp was intercepted by the military and handed over to the agency.
