Ladi Adebutu, the Ogun State Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate, has reported at the state police headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, on Wednesday over allegations of vote-buying during the March 18 elections.

Mr Adebutu, upon return from the United Kingdom after over six months, turned himself in at the police headquarters around 11:00 a.m. to honour a police invitation over allegations by the All Progressives Congress that he bought votes with preloaded ATM cards during the polls.

Mr Adebutu was led into the State Criminal Investigation Department after he met the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, along with his legal team and other loyalists.

The state chairman of the APC, Yemi Sanusi, had petitioned the police, accusing Mr Adebutu and other PDP members of vote-buying, with the case already in court.

The Ogun APC spokesperson, Tunde Oladunjoye, had said Mr Adebutu refused to return to the country because “He is afraid of his shadow. We also know too well that he is running away from being arraigned alongside other members of his party. If he claims otherwise, the best way to prove us wrong is to buy a ticket and board the next available flight home.”
