The police command in Jigawa has presented cheques totalling N43.12 million to 51 families of police personnel who died in active service in the state.
The spokesperson of the command, Lawan Shiisu stated this on Monday in a statement issued to newsmen in Dutse.
He said that the Commissioner of Police in the state, Emmanuel Ekot, presented the cheques to the next of kin of the deceased policemen on Monday.
The money is part of the benefits of the deceased from the group life assurance benefits, group personal accident, and IGP family welfare insurance schemes.
Mr Shiisu added that the CP appreciated the Inspector-General of Police for his commitment to improving the welfare of police personnel, including the families of those who died in the service of the country.
He urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money to support themselves.
