Police nab three Eiye cultists in Benin hotel
Police in Edo have arrested three suspected armed robbers and members of the Eiye Confraternity in Benin.
Police spokesman Chidi Nwabuzor confirmed the arrest in a statement.
“The three daredevil armed robbers and members of Eiye secret cult confraternity were on Sunday arrested by the operatives of the anti-robbery team of Ugbekun Divisional Police Headquarters, Benin,” the police statement said.
It further revealed that the cops stormed a hotel along Enomayo off Upper Sakponba Road, Benin, arrested Bright Omonowa, Clifford Patrick and Isaac Peter, and seized a “cut-to-size locally made gun and one black beret of the Eiye Confraternity.”
The arrest followed “credible intelligence on the suspects’ clandestine meeting in the hotel.”
Meanwhile, police commissioner Mohammed Dankwara warned secret cult members and their sponsors to desist from criminal activities.
