Senator commiserates with Yola flood victim

Senator Aishatu Dahiru-Ahmed, aka Binani, has sympathised with families of those who lost their lives and property to the Yola flood disaster.
The Yola flood, which occurred on Sunday, resulted in the loss of several lives and property, including livestock, houses, and farmlands.
Ms Binani, in a statement in Yola, said she was devastated by the development and would work towards finding solutions to mitigate such flood incidents.
“My heart goes out to all those who have been impacted by the devastating floods in Yola. The loss of lives and homes and the displacement of families is a heartbreaking situation, and I share in the grief of our community during this difficult time.
“We are committed to further connecting with all our communities in the state to assess the vulnerabilities within them and continue to advance solutions that will mitigate such occurrences.
“We will continue to advise relevant government agencies and humanitarian organisations to ensure that the displaced are swiftly catered for and assisted to return to their places of abode as soon as possible,” Ms Binani said.
She urged all stakeholders to be collectively concerned about the health effects of such floods, including the dangers associated with the release of harmful reptiles in such circumstances.
She also urged residents to remain vigilant and heed the warnings of authorities.
“I urge everyone to take necessary precautions and to cooperate with the authorities as they work to manage the situation and prevent further loss of life or property. We will work tirelessly to ensure that our people are safe and that Yola can recover from this tragedy. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected,” Ms Binani said.
