Governor Caleb Mutfwang has called on Plateau residents to unite, love and support one another to tackle the current security challenges in the state.
Governor Caleb Mutfwtang has appointed Jeremiah Satmark as his chief of staff.
The speaker, Abok Ayuba, who presided over the Tuesday plenary, was elected speaker by his colleagues in June 2019 but was impeached on October 28, 2021, by the assembly members.
He said he advised the lawmakers to avoid anything that would lead to the breakdown of law and order hence, the deployment of police officers to the complex.
Late Eric Dakagol, who represented Qua’an Pan State Constituency, died on November 22, 2022, but was named among the appellants.
Some house members expressed joy that the court reinstated Mr Ayuba as the speaker of the House of Assembly.
He, however, challenged his impeachment, which he described as illegal, saying that it contravened the assembly rules.
The Senate has called on the Plateau House of Assembly to be guided by the rule of law and the Constitution in all legislative business.
It was not exactly clear if the police whisking away the embattled speaker was an arrest or to tame the chaos at the assembly complex.
Aside from the police and civil defence, a detachment of Operation Safe Haven personnel has also been deployed to the complex.
