Governor Bello Matawalle has shut down a filling station and bakery for helping bandits.
“The state government had banned the purchase of fuel and similar products in containers. Many people are found to be using that to supply fuel to various bandits’ camps…”
The residents, who stormed the streets in their hundreds along with women and children, used sticks and stones to attack vehicles and journalists.
The local vigilantes had tried to repel the invaders but were overpowered.
“These 20 AK47 rifles were surrendered at once by just one gang of repentant armed bandits,” a state official said.
