Mr Idris-Ahmad called on the Kano State House of Assembly to enact a law requiring drug tests before marriage.
The commander disclosed that NDLEA also arrested 106 male suspects, among which 11 were identified as major drug dealers.
NDLEA says it arrested 319 suspects and seized 4.7 tonnes of illicit drugs between January and March 2024 in Kano.
“Significant numbers of crimes are committed under the influence of drugs.’’
“The arrest of the suspects is a significant victory for the NDLEA in its fight against drug-related activities in Kano,” said the agency.
The command also destroyed more than 15 tonnes of assorted narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances in 2023, he added.
Mr Marwa said during the public burning of the illicit drugs that the action was to prevent them from going back to society.
Mr Idris-Ahmad said the NDLEA secured 18 convictions of drug traffickers and users in the three months.
NDLEA in Kano says it arrested two suspected drug traffickers and seized 1,553.1KG of cannabis sativa in the Wudil LGA.
He said members of the host community of the club complained that the club had been turned into a drug den.
