Sokoto’s first lady, Fatima Aliyu, on Thursday launched the disbursement of cash support to 41,821 female students.
Mrs Aliyu reaffirmed her commitment to the welfare of women and children.
The national programme coordinator said the farm inputs and equipment included fertilisers, herbicides, rice seeds, and home garden seeds.
Fatima Aliyu, National Programme Coordinator, FG/IFAD-VCDP, stated this during a supervision visit to Nasarawa on Thursday.
The rights organisation also noted the police “unlawfully” detained Fatima Auwal, a local bread (Gurasa) baker, for protesting the steep rise in flour prices.
She said the state government would do everything possible to support them with a view to improving the livelihood of households.
Mr Tinubu acknowledged the country’s prevalent hardship but urged Nigerians to show understanding.
Governor Francis Nwifuru, in a message, said IFAD had been instrumental to the progress recorded by the government in assisting farmers.
Mr Igbaukum lamented that farmers in the state were grappling with post-harvest losses which was largely due to lack of storage facilities.
The items include 500 bags of fertilisers, 10 tricycles, 55 water pumps, 115 knapsack sprayers, five fufu pounders, 50 seed planters and five rice milling machines.
