The police received a distress call at about 11:00 p.m. on Sunday that terrorists on motorcycles attacked Bajinawa village and kidnapped five women.
Mr Isah said the suspect would be charged to court.
Two corpses of the bandits neutralised during the operation were recovered alongside motorcycles and some rustled cows.
Members of the local vigilance groups, popularly known as “Yansakai”, were ambushed by terrorists in Yargoje forest.
According to the police, the bandit confessed to have participated in several attacks.
The police swooped in one the bandit after a distress call in the wee hours of Thursday indicated the gun-wielding criminals had invaded Kirfi village and abducted a man, Kabir Sule.
Terrorists in their numbers had attacked a police point at Magama-Hirji junction, along Jibia-Katsina road, on Monday, January 2.
The police said the kidnappers fled into the bush and abandoned their victims after they were engaged in a “fierce gun duel”.
The police command in Katsina has arrested a teacher, Laminu Saminu, 29, for poisoning his friend to death.
The incident was first reported by resident witnesses who said that the attackers had injured and shot the chief imam and one other worshipper during prayers.
