Mr Ajayi stressed that PTAD discovered that 7,091 pensioners in the sector were being underpaid based on the payroll it inherited.
“While modalities to recover the overpayment will be worked out in due course, letters to the affected pensioners have been dispatched.”
PTAD says defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN)’s workers are not entitled to the pension increase of 33 per cent.
The statement also mentioned that PTAD commenced payment of the pension increment in May 2021, with an accrued arrears of 24 months.
