Governor Sani Bello has declared Thursday a public holiday for elections in the 25 local government areas.
The bandits on Tuesday morning attacked the Gulu General Hospital and killed and abducted an unspecified number of people, including medical personnel.
The SSG said intra-party wranglings were threats to democratic consolidation and stability of the party.
“Governor Bello has laid a concrete political foundation needed for our great party to sustain elective structures in the forthcoming general elections.”
Shiroro hosts one of Nigeria’s largest power stations and the overrun LGA is barely 200 kilometres from Nigeria’s capital Abuja.
“Defenceless, unarmed, and peaceful locals have been abandoned to their fate.”
