The state CP led a team on an on-the-spot assessment to the affected communities to ascertain the level of destruction and restore normalcy.
The police spokesperson said the command remain committed to eradicating criminals and intensifying actions against illegal firearms and substance abuse.
“One AK-47 rifle, two locally fabricated Dane guns, 20 rounds of 9mm ammunition, and five live cartridges were recovered from the scene,” the police PRO said.
Mr Adewale said two members of the vigilante group were injured in the attack on September 15.
The hoodlums attacked the market’s police post and mobile policemen guarding a commercial bank within the market but they were prevented from invading the bank.
Mr Idowu said the assailants, while trying to disarm the Amotekun operatives, inflicted serious injuries on them.
The palace, located on plot 306, New Layout, Lokoja, was allegedly attacked by hoodlums at about 1:00 a.m.
The Niger government recently banned the activities of illegal miners owing to the spike in insecurity and environmental challenges.
“Police, in collaboration with members of vigilance groups and some brave members of the community, went after the hoodlums.”
The police spokesperson said the CP mandated the special squad to free the abducted official.
