Mr Obi said that his support for the removal of fuel subsidy dates back to the administration of former president Goodluck Jonathan.
The APC chieftain said that better days were ahead for Nigerians irrespective of the current challenges, especially the hike in transport fare.
“Nigerians should not have to pay the price of decades of political and economic mismanagement of the subsidy scheme.
“He (Mr Tinubu) said subsidy is a cankerworm that has stifled our economy, and it only fans the embers of corruption.”
“I see that Tinubu is too direct. He has set his mind on what he wants to do. He is not diplomatic and not gearing so many expectations.”
“I decided to refill my tank today so that I will not suffer searching for fuel around when the filling stations start their artificial scarcity.”
Mr Tinubu said that fuel subsidy was abolished by the outgone administration of former president Buhari as the 2023 budget made no provision for it.
