Mr Ugwuanyi also urged government to strengthen its collaboration with private hospitals to reduce medical tourism.
“I am saying this because, according to the electoral law, the elections are not over until it is over.”
The archbishop said that the Pope spent his 95 years on Earth in serving God and his Church.
The cleric said politics should not be about personal enrichment, “but selflessly serving the people”.
Mr Onaiyekan urged Nigerians to pray for the country and participate actively in politics.
“Who told them that it is only the rich people who can rule Nigeria?”
The Catholic priest also appealed to Christians to pray in unity for progress, stability and peace to reign in Nigeria.
Nigerians are used to “just sitting and complaining about everything” but do nothing to challenge bad leaders, says John Cardinal Onaiyekan.
“If you are not involved in politics and do not care about how you’re being ruled, that means you are not responsible.”
“I, therefore, call upon my fellow countrymen to fulfil the biblical condition for the turnaround as stated in 2 Chronicles 7:14.”
