Tikolo, who was employed in October 2022, said in Abuja that the decision was informed by personal responsibilities back home.
Nigeria picked the only qualification slot for Africa to qualify, while South Africa gained automatic qualification to the event due to their rankings.
The team, which will be making their third appearance at the event, has a squad with a good blend of youth and experience.
Blessing Etim, captain of the Nigerian side, later lauded her team’s performance while appreciating the efforts of their coaches.
Ghana has exited the tournament, losing all of its matches to Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Cameroon, along side Nigeria.
He stated that Blessing Etim, the country’s longest-serving player and the most capped, would lead the team as captain, while Favour Esiegbe has been named vice-captain.
The tournament was earlier scheduled for February 15 to 19 in Abuja. However, a new date is to be communicated later.
Tikolo’s appointment followed the resignation of Sri Lankan Asanka Gurusinha as head coach in April due to health concerns.
Mr Ehizoje said the decision to grant Nigeria the hosting rights was due to her grassroots development efforts in promoting the game.
Ms Kambarami added, “It’s great to see the improvement from the Nigerian side, and I am so impressed by this.”
