Ms Omokaro said that the centre needed the support of stakeholders to continue engagement towards advancing the course of senior citizens.
Ms Omokaro advocated increased participation of women in the affairs of the country.
“We are creating platforms and tools. We are creating spaces for older persons who wish to continue to engage and have the opportunities to do so.”
She said life expectancy in Africa had increased from 51.7 years in 1990 to 1995 to 62.4 years in 2015 to 2020, corresponding to a 10.7-year gain, notably older ages.
In an interview on Saturday, the director-general, NSCC, Emem Omokaro, said the collaboration involved training community health extension workers.
This is in regard to the presidential declaration for the registration and issuance of identity cards to senior citizens.
