The police said two gunmen alighted from an unregistered Toyota Corolla vehicle and shot the man in his head in front of his house.
He said that the suspect was arrested in Sauka village on Jan. 21, and the kidnap victim rescued.
It was gathered that the gunmen laid siege on the road linking Iju in Ondo and Ikere in Ekiti and intercepted the vehicles conveying the victims.
The FRSC spokesperson explained that the injured victims were taken to Famobis Hospital Mowe for medical attention.
Mr Oramalugo said operatives intensified surveillance in the state and seized cannabis sativa, donkey skin and other items.
They, however, pleaded not guilty.
The police spokesman said items recovered from the suspects included 74 vehicle tyres, 16 vehicle engines and eight gearboxes.
The police spokesman said that the suspect had been arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigation and had been remanded in Enugu Custodial Centre.
A series of mobile phones, laptops, a silver-coloured Toyota Corolla car among others were recovered from the suspects.
Police statement disclosed that a bullet hit the driver in the head, forcing the vehicle the chieftains were travelling in to come to a halt.
