Governor Ademola Adeleke has bagged the fellowship award of a socio-cultural group, Ede Unique Club of Nigeria.
Mr Edafe said the suspects had confessed to their involvement in the crime and other kidnapping incidents in Delta.
He said the armed gang members sighted the patrol vehicle from their hideout, deflated its front tyre and engaged the patrol team in a gun duel.
“The kidnapped victims were rescued unhurt.”
“Investigation revealed that the suspect is a member of the Eiye Confraternity; he faked his own kidnap.”
Mr Edafe said that the suspect (name withheld) was apprehended by the anti-crime patrol team of the Oghara division of the command.
Mr Edafe said that one pump action gun was recovered from the scene, adding that investigation into the matter was ongoing.
The police spokesman said items recovered from the suspects included 74 vehicle tyres, 16 vehicle engines and eight gearboxes.
The kidnappers abandoned their victims and escaped into a nearby forest, following a confrontation from security operatives.
On June 26, the policeman, James Aondona, engaged in an altercation with one Aondohemba Terkula, which led to the resident’s death.
