Yobe deputy governor loses 100-year-old brother

Ibrahim Barde, the village head of Gubana and the elder brother of Yobe State deputy governor Idi Gubana, has died at the age of 100.
Mr Barde, who died on Sunday in Gubana village after a protracted illness, was buried on Monday in Gubana.
He had three wives and 16 children. One of the children is Hamidu Ibrahim, a retired director of finance in the state civil service.
The funeral prayer was led by the Special Adviser to Governor Mai Mala Buni on Religious Affairs, Baba Kyari.
The deputy governor described the deceased as a dynamic and humble leader who spent the greater part of his life serving, uniting and guiding his people.
Mr Gubana prayed to Allah to forgive the deceased and grant the family and people of the area the fortitude to bear the loss.
