Ondo: Petrol tanker explodes in Ore

A fuel-laden tanker has exploded in Ore, Ondo, forcing many to flee to safety.
The tanker exploded in the Ore axis on Saturday at the busy junction of the Soka area, with traders and passengers running for their lives.
A cloth merchant, Eze Chukwuma, in the area, told Peoples Gazette that the vehicle veered off the road and fell into a ditch before exploding.
“The incident (tanker explosion) happened this evening while the driver was en route to the road in Ore,” said the witness. “It veered off the road and fell into a big ditch, causing panic among residents and motorists on the street.”
FRSC sector commander Samuel Ibitoye confirmed the accident to The Gazette.
Mr Ibitoye, however, said prompt efforts were made to prevent any threats to life and property.
The accident came hours after a fire razed a shopping complex in Akure.
