All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Bola Tinubu was in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, on Sunday, to seek the support of the Muslim community in the South-West region, ahead of the 2023 election, Peoples Gazette can report.

Mr Tinubu, a Muslim, was accompanied to the state by the deputy governor of Lagos, Obafemi Hamzat, and former speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole, among other loyalists.

His meeting with the Muslim community and leaders is coming barely a few days that the former Lagos governor travelled to the United Kingdom, where he appeared at the Chatham House to speak about his major plans for the country ahead of the election.

The Gazette had reported how Mr Tinubu failed to clearly express his plans but rather assigned surrogates including Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna, House Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila to answer questions at the British think tank event.

Although the details of the ongoing Ibadan meeting are still sketchy as of the time of this report, it was gathered that Mr Tinubu was urshered into the event by Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN), an umbrella organization for Muslims in the South-West region.

Mr Tinubu, who is running a joint Muslim-Muslim ticket with his choice of Kashim Shettima, as vice-presidential candidate, has been under heavy criticism for flying a same faith ticket.
