Former Governor Abdul’aziz Yari of Zamfara on Saturday picked the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for Zamfara West senate seat.

Shehu Kagara, chairman of the primaries committee, said Mr Yari scored 310 out of the 306 votes at the primaries to win unopposed.

Commending delegates for the peaceful conduct of the election, he also commended security agencies and INEC officials “for their support toward peaceful conduct of the primaries.”

In his remarks, Governor Bello Matawalle described Mr Yari’s emergence as a welcome development.

Mr Matawalle said having Yari as APC candidate for Zamfara West was a good omen for the party considering his track record of service in the state.

He urged residents of the state to continue their support for the APC and vote for the party at all levels in the 2023 general elections.

In his acceptance speech, Mr Yari promised to work toward the success of the party at all levels in 2023.
