Unknown gunmen have abducted a retiree, Israel Bamisaye, in Ido-Osi Local Council Area of Ekiti state.

Mr Bamisaye, a retired chief pharmacist with the states health ministry, was seized while working on his farm, on Wednesday.

Peoples Gazette learnt that the local farm is located between Ero Dam and a farm settlement at Orin Ekiti, belonging to the state government.

The gun-wielding men were said to have, stormed the farm around 4:00 p.m. and abducted the retiree, while searching for the foreigners working at the farm settlement.

“They (gunmen) were about seven in number who came to the farm this evening,” one of the local farmers told The Gazette on the phone.

He added, “They ordered us to lie down flat on the ground and asked the whereabouts of the white men working at the farm settlement.

“They specifically face Mr Bamisaye and he immediately told them he did not know their movement.

“Within few minutes, they took him to his car and ransacked it where it was parked. They took away the sum of N4,500 found inside the vehicle and dragged him away.”

Sunday Abutu, Spokesperson for the Ekiti State Police Command, could not be immediately reached for comment as his line was not connecting.

However, the Commander of the Ekiti State Security Network Agency, known as Amotekun Corps, Joe Akomolafe, confirmed the incident to The Gazette on the telephone.

Mr Akomolafe said the security agencies have launched an investigation into the incident while on the trail of the perpetrators.

“We are already on top of the incident. The Amotekun Corps in collaboration with other security agencies are combing everywhere to rescue the man as I speak.

“And let me also confirm that he (Bamisaye) was the only person abducted by the gunmen on his farm. We will surely get the perpetrators,” Mr Akomolafe added.
