I won’t quit active politics: Osinbajo

Mr Osinbajo fell short of picking the All Progressives Congress ticket at the party’s presidential primary election held on June 6-8.

Giving up on the push for a better Nigeria is not on his table, says Vice President Yemi Osinbajo who reiterated his intention to remain active in politics on Friday.

The vice president made the assertion to “representatives of the Diaspora Professionals for PYO” in a virtual meeting, a statement by his media aide Laolu Akade said.

“I intend to stay very actively engaged in the politics of our country, because I believe strongly that, if God gives us that opportunity, the change will be swift and we will make a real difference,” Mr Osinbajo said.

“We must continue to push. If we give up and say let’s see how it goes, we will be much further back than where we started from,” Mr Osinbajo added.

Mr Osinbajo ran an elaborate bid to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari but fell short of picking the All Progressives Congress ticket at the party’s presidential primary election held on June 6-8.

He came a distant third behind old political war horse and former boss Bola Tinubu, and ex-transport minister Rotimi Amaechi at the primary.

The vice president’s political activities has since seen a subdued nosedive.
