Yahoo-Yahoo fraudster forfeits Benz car, iPhone to FG

The Kaduna High Court has ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to sell an iPhone 12, an HP laptop and a Mercedes Benz C300 belonging to Julius Emmanuel.
The proceeds are to be paid into the federal government’s coffers.
Delivering judgment, Justice Hannatu Balogun sentenced Mr Emmanuel to one-year imprisonment with an option of N300,000 fine.
Mr Emmanuel had pleaded guilty to internet-related fraud.
EFCC counsel E. K. Garba told the court that the convict was arrested based on an intelligence report on his internet-related fraud activities.
Mr Garba stated on receiving the report, the convict was arrested at his Kakuri residence in Kaduna, where the anti-graft agency obtained incriminating documents and materials.
He further disclosed that investigation into the matter revealed that the convict, jobless, was an internet fraudster and had benefited several millions of naira from his fraudulent activities.
The prosecution added he used part of the money to purchase a Mercedes Benz C300 worth N8 million.
He noted that the defendant committed an offence punishable under Section 319 (a) of the Penal Code.
Mr Garba urged the court to convict Mr Emmanuel in line with his plea and the exhibits tendered before it.
