The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has assured of its readiness to ensure security and safety of members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

The civil defence also assured of the safety of the INEC staff and electoral materials, noting that doing such is part of the Corps’ statutory responsibilities.

The Representative of the Commandant General of NSCDC, Deputy Commandant-General, Operations, Dauda Danladi Mungadi, who is leading officers and men of the Corps in tomorrow’s governorship election in Osun, disclosed this when he played host to the Director General of NYSC, Brig.-Gen. MK Fadah.

“Members of NYSC are among the most important variables in an election. Giving them and other stakeholders security as well as ensuring safety of materials are one of the most important statutory responsibilities of the Corps,” Mr Fadah said, adding “we will take their safety serious and make it a priority.”

He assured the NYSC and other stakeholders of synergy and collaboration, adding that everything legally possible will be done to make the exercise peaceful and hitch-free.

Speaking earlier, Mr Fadah explained that his visit was to consolidate on the existing synergy between the duo and appreciate the Corps for its services.

The director-general stated that he was highly impressed with the conduct of the NSCDC in the last governorship election in Ekiti State, describing it as hitch-free.

“I hope the election in Osun State will be the same to that of Ekiti due to the commitment and dedication of NSCDC,” Mr Fadah added.
