Chikwendu emerges president of Nigeria Para Swimming Federation

Amobi Chikwendu, the immediate past President of Para Athletic Federation of Nigeria, on Friday, emerged as the new President of the Nigeria Para Swimming Federation.

Recall that the election, held at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, on Friday, had 10 delegates in attendance.

Chikwendu polled seven votes to defeat Emoghavwe Ochuko, his opponent, who had three votes.

In the Vice President election, Bose Kaffo won with seven votes, while her opponent Peter Agbado, had three votes.

Commenting, Chikwendu said he came to Para Swimming to develop the sport. “I have tried my best in Para Athletics and I will do much more in Para Swimming to excel.

“We will develop the sport and bring it to an enabling height that is a promise to the country. I decided to switch my portfolio from Para Athletics to Para Swimming and I have done better in Para Swimming,” he said.

The election was conducted under the guidance of the Ministry of Youths and Sports Development.

Also, a total of seven Para Sports Federation elections were supposed to be held on Friday but only six were conducted.
