We’re investigating burning of Igboho’s house: Police

The spokesperson for the police command in Oyo, Fadeyi Olugbenga, says the force is investigating the fire that gutted activist Sunday ‘Igboho’ Adeyemo’s house in the early hours of Tuesday.
Mr. Olugbenga revealed this to Peoples Gazette, suggesting that Mr. Adeyemo’s home might have been set on fire by hoodlums.
According to him, only the “mini parlour” was affected by the blaze before firefighters put it out.
“We’re currently investigating the incident that led to the fire outbreak at the residence of Sunday Igboho.
“It is believed that hoodlums initiated the attack on Igboho’s home. Only the mini parlour in his house was affected before the Oyo State fire service came and put out the fire,” Mr. Olugbenga told the Gazette.
Though the cause of the fire has yet to be ascertained, some residents in the state believed that aggrieved Fulani must have torched the building, as the home of a Fulani leader was reportedly razed after a seven-day quit notice given by Igboho to Fulani in the state expired on Sunday.
According to Igboho, the ultimatum was issued following the alleged criminal activities of Fulani herdsmen in the state.
