The Borno State government has declared Thursday and Friday as public holidays for civil servants to obtain their Permanent Voters Cards (PVC).

In a circular signed on Monday by the state Head of Service, Simon Malgwi, Governor Babagana Zulum, approved Thursday and Friday as public holidays to enable civil servants and public office holders to obtain their PVC.

“Civil servants and public office holders are therefore urged to use this opportunity to ensure that they obtain the PVC to enable them exercise their franchise as responsible citizens,” the circular stated.

Some civil servants who spoke over the decision, described it as a welcome development that would inspire both civil servants and the citizens of the state to show interest in the process leading to the 2023 elections.

“It is a good move that should be supported by all, including the media in the area of enlightenment for mass participation for the needed maximum result,” a civil servant, Ibrahim Abubakar said.
