Lafia emir urges Nigerians to be united, tolerant

The Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage, has urged Nigerians to live in peace and tolerate one another for the country’s overall development.
Mr Bage, the chairman of the Nasarawa State Traditional Council of Chiefs, stated this on Saturday while inaugurating a central mosque in Akaleku, Obi local government area.
The mosque was built and donated by Isaac Kigbu, the president of the Eggon Youth Movement (EYM) worldwide.
The complex was named ‘Hon Muktar Aliyu Betera Central Mosque, Akaleku’.
Mr Betera is the chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation in the House of Representatives.
“I want to call on all of us and other Nigerians to continue to live in peace and tolerate one another, irrespective of our affiliations, for development to thrive,” the emir said.
The first-class traditional ruler urged parents to give adequate attention to the education of their children/wards for societal development. He also urged the residents of the state and other Nigerians to be law-abiding, respect constituted authority and be their brother’s keepers.
Mr Kigbu said the gesture was part of his continued commitment to promoting religious activities in the locality.
“It is also part of my commitment to promote unity and peace among Christians and Muslims in Akaleku and its environs,” he said.
