Weather Outlook: Thunderstorms, cloudiness expected across Nigeria Wednesday-Friday

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted cloudiness and thunderstorms from Wednesday to Friday across the nation.
NiMet`s weather outlook released on Tuesday in Abuja predicted cloudy atmosphere over the northern region on Wednesday with prospects of thunderstorms over parts of Adamawa and Gombe state during the morning hours.
According to it, thunderstorms are anticipated over Bauchi, Kaduna, Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina, Bauchi, Zamfara, Borno, Taraba, Kano and Jigawa state later in the day.
“Cloudy morning is anticipated over the North central region with chances of morning rains over parts of Niger state.
“There are prospects of rains over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Plateau, Kwara, Nasarawa and Niger states during the afternoon and evening hours,” it said.
The agency forecast cloudy atmosphere over the inland and coastal cities of the South with prospects of morning rains over Rivers, Cross River and Akwa Ibom state.
It anticipated moderate rains over parts of Imo, Edo, Abia, Ogun, Ebonyi, Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta, Akwa Ibom and Cross River states later in the day.
NiMet envisaged a cloudy atmosphere over the northern region on Wednesday during the morning hours.
It further envisaged thunderstorms over parts of Jigawa, Taraba,
Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Adamawa, Kano, Kebbi, Zamfara, Yobe and Kaduna State during the afternoon and evening hours.
The agency predicted the North-Central region to be cloudy with chances of thunderstorms over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Kwara and Nasarawa state in the morning hours.
It anticipated the prospects of thunderstorms over Plateau, Kogi, Benue, Niger and Nasarawa later in the day.
According to it, a cloudy atmosphere is anticipated over the inland and coastal cities of the South in the morning with chances of light rains over parts of Cross River and Akwa Ibom state in the morning hours.
It forecast light rains over parts of Imo, Enugu, Abia, Ebonyi, Rivers, Cross rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom and Delta states later in the day.
“For Thursday, Thunderstorms are anticipated over parts of Kaduna, Bauchi, Kebbi and Sokoto states during the morning hours.
“Later in the day, thunderstorms are expected over parts of Borno, Bauchi, Gombe, Jigawa, Zamfara, Yobe and Kaduna states.
“The North central region is expected to be cloudy with chances of thunderstorms over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Nasarawa and Kwara state in the morning hours,” it said.
According to it, thunderstorms are expected over parts of Plateau, Kwara, Kogi, Niger and Benue states later in the afternoon and evening hours.
The agency anticipated the inland and the coastal cities of the South to be cloudy with prospects of morning rains over parts of Cross River and Akwa Ibom state.
It forecast light rains over parts of Abia, Imo, Ebonyi, Enugu, Rivers, Cross rivers, Akwa ibom and Delta state during the afternoon and evening period.
According to it, there are prospects of intermittent rains accompanied with thunder and strong winds over the North and North central parts of the country which may give rise to floods.
The agency advised the citizens living in the northern region to take necessary precautions.
The agency equally advised emergency management agencies to be on alert.
“Airline operators are advised to get updated weather reports from NiMet for effective planning in their operations,” it said.
