Nigerian superstar Tiwa Savage claims her hit track “Somebody’s son” was actually dedicated to Jesus Christ and not about finding a lover.

“When I wrote somebody’s son, I was not even thinking about a relationship, I was thinking about Jesus Christ because he is the real somebody’s son,” the singer said during a performance at BudXLagos FIFA Kick-Off Concert at Eko Hotel in July. The video made the rounds on Friday.

It was a response to some naysayers who opined that the song which featured Brandy would not be a hit because only women seeking love or smarting from heartbreak could freely relate with it.

Tiwa, a divorcee, clarified, “So I said to them, people will relate to the song because whether you’re a man or a woman, we all need somebody’s son.”

Meanwhile, many of her admirers are not buying the gist, saying the diva is just making a fable to deflect concerns.

Online commenters like @splufikbukit described Tiwa’s assertion as “a cold zobo,” a street Lingua meaning a lie.

@dumebiblog said: “I had to Google the lyrics quickly, Omo! I can’t find anything that relates to Jesus in those lyrics abeg. nice song tho,”

“Aaahhh aunty tiwa which kind lie be this. God is a merciful God sha,” @preshydmw exclaimed.
