Champions Manchester City thrashed newly promoted Bournemouth in their first home game to climb to the English Premier League’s summit with six points.

Star striker Erling Haaland failed to register his name on the scoresheet, but he should have early on. 

Foden received a good pass from Cancelo, and even though Haaland was free on goal, he chose to go himself, failing at it.

Gundogan would eventually open the scoring for the Citizens, Haaland, the provider, this time with a controlled flick into the box for the German midfielder to make a brilliant finish.

Kevin de Bruyne doubled the lead just after the hour mark, hitting a top drawer finish into the bottom left corner of the goal with the outside of his right foot.

De Bruyne turned provider just before halftime, playing Foden through with a neat pass for City’s third before Jefferson Lerma’s deflected own goal off a Cancelo cross capped a dreadful afternoon for the Cherries.

Manchester City sit top of the league, for the time being, a familiar spot for them, having won the League in four of the last five seasons.
