Abducted Nasarawa information commissioner regains freedom

The Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism in Nasarawa State, Yakubu Lawal, has been freed by bandits after five days in captivity.
He was released around 6:00 p.m. on Friday and has since rejoined his family after a medical checkup.
Police spokesman in Nasarawa, Rahman Nansel confirmed the release but said the police are unaware that any ransom was paid.
He, however, said the police are still on the trail of the bandits to bring them to justice.
Mr Lawa was kidnapped at his residence in Nassarawa-Eggon Local Government Area (LGA) by gunmen on Monday, at around 9:45 p.m.
