The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has reiterated that corps members are forbidden from engaging in politics.

Eddy Megwa, the spokesperson for the NYSC, said if found guilty, such a person is liable on conviction to six months’ imprisonment or a fine.

Mr Megwa maintained that NYSC remained apolitical because the scheme was in collaboration with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

“Management hereby restates that the scheme remains apolitical and neutral without any form of attachment to any political party,” said the NYSC official.

He also reminded public members that section 14 of the NYSC Act made it an offence for someone who is not a corps member to wear the NYSC uniform.
