Manchester United pip Southampton 1-0

Bruno Fernandes scored the only goal of the game to secure a 1-0 victory for Manchester United against Southampton at St Mary’s.
Manchester United had not won successive games in the league since February, but they came into this fixture after a massive victory against Liverpool on Monday.
Southampton seemed more proactive throughout the first half, but the Red Devils fared better after the break, Gavin Bazunu keeping Marcus Rashford at bay.
As the game approached the hour mark, Diogo Dalot found Bruno Fernandes in acres of space with a beautiful cross before the Portuguese midfielder volleyed past the Saints goalkeeper.
Joe Aribo came close with a thumping header that needed a David de Gea save while Sekou Mara came close with an acrobatic bicycle kick.
Manchester United’s victory ended a run of 10 consecutive defeats on the road; their worst-ever away run since 1936.
