Bournemouth sacked manager Scott Parker on Tuesday morning just four games into the Premier League season after Liverpool thrashed the club 9-0 over the weekend.

Parker joined the Cherries 14 months ago after leaving Fulham and brought Bournemouth back into the Premier League.

After the 9-0 thrashing by Liverpool on Saturday, Parker made no secret of his frustration, claiming that he had to work with a squad “ill-equipped” to compete in the English Premier League.

“I would like to place on record my gratitude to Scott and his team for their efforts during their time with us. Our promotion back to the Premier League, last season under his tenure, will always be remembered as one of the most successful seasons in our history,” a statement released by Bournemouth co-owner Maxim Demin said.

The statement added, “However, in order for us to keep progressing as a team and a club as a whole, it is unconditional that we are aligned in our strategy to run the club sustainably. We must also show belief in and respect for one another.”

According to the Bournemouth co-owner, that is the approach that has brought this club so much success in recent history and one that we will not veer from now.

“Our search for a new head coach will begin immediately,” added the statement.

Bournemouth are 16th on the league table and will host Wolves at the Vitality Stadium on Wednesday.
