Turkish club Fatih Karagümrük terminate Ahmed Musa’s contract

Turkish Super Lig side Fatih Karagümrük has announced the termination of the contract of Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa following a mutual agreement between the two parties.
A statement on Karagümrük’s social media page on Thursday afternoon stated that the 29-year-old forward departed the club just a year into his two-year contract but didn’t mention the reason for the termination.
“We have parted ways by mutual agreement with professional football player Ahmed Musa, who was included in our 2021/2022 season,” Karagumruk announced.
“We would like to thank Musa for his services to our club and wish him success in his future football career,” the statement announced Friday on Twitter added.
The Jos-born player moved to Fatih Karagümrük in 2021 for a two-year following a short stint in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) with Kano Pillars. However, Musa failed to impress in his third stint in Turkey.
Musa rose to prominence in the 2009-2010 NPFL season when he scored 18 times in 25 appearances for Kano Pillars to clinch the league Highest Goalscorer Awards, and subsequently moved to Europe with Dutch outfit VVV-Venlo.
After two years, he left the Netherlands for Russia with CSKA Moscow and immediately established himself as an important member of the squad that won the Russian Premier League three times in a role.
Musa moved to English Premier club Leicester City in 2016 following a successful spell in Moscow but struggled to regain his form. He has since played in Saudi Arabia and Nigeria.
He was yet to score for Karagumruk, who currently sit 13th on the Russian Premier League table.
